People ask because so much flat-pack furniture comes from a few big retailers. What independence means in practice:

  • Names only say which product. Product names, brands and trademarks belong to their owners. BuildMog uses them only to identify the product a manual is for, the way a repair shop lists the models it fixes.
  • Our manuals are ours. Every manual in the library is BuildMog's own 3D blueprint, written in our own words. The six demo manuals are labelled Demo. A manual built from a maker's instructions links to the PDF it was made from and never reproduces its drawings.
  • Your scans are for you. A manual built from pages you photograph stays private to your account. Upload only manuals you have the right to use, and do not use BuildMog to republish or sell a maker's manual.
  • The maker's manual wins. BuildMog is a guide, not the manufacturer's instructions. Follow the safety warnings in the box, and if the two disagree, follow the manufacturer.

If you make a product and something BuildMog shows about it is wrong, or you want it changed or removed, email hello@buildmog.com. A brand that wants its manuals in 3D can also work with us directly: a QR code on page one of the paper manual opens the product in BuildMog, and a brand pilot is $299 a month for up to three products.

The line at the foot of every page says it in one sentence: BuildMog is independent and not affiliated with IKEA or any brand it shows. Trademarks belong to their owners. The terms say the same in section 5.
